Placement of nasoenteric feeding tubes for feeding access is fundamental in critically ill patients. Using the electromagnetic guidance system (Cortrak) for placement obviated the need for radiographic confirmation in most cases. The Feeding Tube Team is expert. In rare cases, they are unable to confidently determine satisfactory position and only in these cases is radiography necessary. The result is faster, easier enteral feeding with the same degree of safety. See algorithm below.
